Stan and Ollie run their own delivery business, "The Laurel & Hardy Transfer Co."( foundered 1931) They get the job of delivering a piano to Theodore Von Scwharzenhoffen. A gift from his wife for his birthday, (although he hates and detests pianos). Stan and Ollie`s simple task of getting the piano to the address is more than they bargained for, as the house is at the top of a huge flight of steps.
An excellent, simple film. One of L&H`s classics. It is probably of on the best remembered films to anyone who isn`t isn`t too aware of their work. "The one where they have to get that piano up those steps!".
It is also the only film they made that won them an oscar for best short subject of 1932. (an award Stan was always so proud of)
Anyway, yes I do like the Music Box, it`s a very good `Laurel & Hardy` film, although the steps sequence does seem to go on a little bit too long. Some pleasant moments include the bit where Billy Gilbert`s character tries to get past and Ollie suggests he walks around...
BILLY: Who me, Professor Theodore Von Scwarzenhoffen, MD, AD, DDS, FLD,F,F,F and F should walk around!
What a title! I also like the bit where Stan kicks the woman up the arse and she grasses him up to the police, but dercribes the incident a little more personal...
WOMAN: Yes officer, he kicked me, right in the middle of my daily duties!
Which translated means "Yes officer, he kicked me where I have my daily pooh". The scene that follows shows off Stan`s Englishness in the way he pronounces the word `Monkey`, more of a `Manky`, than a `Monkey.
After they eventually get to the house, a nice musical segment follows, which more sense of the title of the film.
Overall, a very good film, One to watch again and again. 8/10
