It is Sunday morning. Stan and Ollie prepare to go out on a picnic with their friends in their model T Ford, The outing is delayed for a while with numerous goings on.
I don't know what it is about Perfect day but it is a nice little film. It starts in the house where Stan & Ollie prepare the sandwiches for the picnic (buttys if you come from Wigan) with a nice routine in which they have a slight butty battle. This could have been the inspiration behind the 90`s comedy "Bottom". Anyway, they have this fight in which lots of sandwiches end up on the floor, and the dirty little bleeders pick them up and still pack them! Still, it`s a good routine anyway.
They then attempt to set off on their picnic only to find they have a flat tyre. Stan`s method of changing the wheel is classic, particularly when he gets the wheel trapped between the car jack. What a painful experience if a model T drops on your foot. poor Ollie. Speaking of which, dialogue...
STAN: Step on it Ollie
OLLIE: I`ll step on you in a minute... And don`t call me Ollie
Ollie not too happy about that, but he got used to it. I also like the scene in which a vicar is walking down the street. Stan and Ollie have been fighting with their neighbours, when they spot the vicar, they all make a dash for the house innocently to avoid any embarrassment.
They return to their car with more problems, the car won`t start. Ollie gets under the bonnet...
OLLIE: Why don`t you do something to help me
STAN: What can I do?
OLLIE: Throw out the clutch
Stan mis-understands and rips out the entire clutch and throws it away.
A pleasant film, with lots of "Goodbye's". 6/10
