Stan and Ollie gain a pet goat Penelope who they have to keep away from their landlord.
The forerunner to Laughing gravy. Stan seems to have an affinity with animals throughout their films. As I've said many times before I prefer a sound film any day. Is there a nail in the door or an early bit of Stan's white magic skills?.
The film also includes the first use of the foot massage sequence (this turns up later in Beau hunks). It's always good to see Edgar Kennedy. Notice the sailor after Edgar says this is a respectable hotel. The bit where they crack there heads cries out for sound!. I get the feeling that the exercise scene was added to fill up the film, I like Ollie's exercise though. I get the feeling also that the script conference went like this "say, how's this for an idea, you boys get a goat and give it a bath" and as it was near knocking off time they agreed!. Rating 3/10
