Is it just me, or have any of you had any Laurel & Hardy related dreams?
I've had quite a few over the years. In them I actually met Stan & Ollie occasionaly.
I ask this because I had a peculiar dream last night about a Sons convention...
A few of us were there. Not exactly sure where to be exact, but Willie McIntyre (Bowler Dessert editor) was also there. Willie brought along a mask with his own face on it. He told me he paid thirty quid for it too. The strangest thing was, the mask looked more like him than he did!
Weird?
Yes, but that was my dream!!!

LOL! I'm glad there is a thread like this actually, because over the years I have been plagued, well, perhaps plagued isn't the right word cos that makes it seem like they've been a nuisance but I have had a good fair share of Stan & Ollie related dreams in my lifetime. What's strange is that they usually take place in a part of my old High school, eiether a class room or the sports hall, or mainly the drama hall. & most of the time we're just sat down having a good ol' natter & it's all very nice... & They're always in black & white, my dreams of them... & Then there was the time where it seemed like I was actually in a film with them, I could see that I was wearing the old fashioned clothes & looked very 1930's glam. lol I was in the back of their car whilst they were driving & again, it was in black & white... The only fairly unpleasant one was one time I wasn't feeling too well, I'd watched them before settling down for bed & I dreamt that I was having an very irate argument with Stan & he was throwing various things at me & it broke into a fight...!!! & I woke up in abit of a start...lol But apart from that they've all been fairly lovely dreams... Mind you, I've always been one of those people who has very vivid & clear dreams....my Mum blames it on my mind not even shutting off when I'm asleep! lol

I don't remember many of my dreams, but I do have a recurring L & H one, or part of one. It's a long time ago, iin Tynemouth, and I'm going forward to shake hands with Stan. He is wearing a long raincoat or overcoat, and giving me a big smile. I remember his hand was wet when I shook it, as it was raining, and it was a rather limp handshake, but that's all. The last time was about a week ago. I have a lot of dreams, but most of them end up as a nighthorse. (It's like a nightmare, but more macho.) I often dream of things I know nothing about, but later find the facts are correct. Odd things, dreams. It must have been great to dream of being in a movie with them, Sal. Were you one of the wives, or aren't you any the wiser? Good idea for a thread, Angus. We'll all have to write down what we remember of our dreams from now on, because you forget them so quickly. Mind you, some are best forgotten...

Aw, that sounded like a sweet dream about Stan At least he wasn't throwing things at you! haha! Yeah, that dream was pretty amazing as it was one of the more vivid ones too, I don't know who or what I was, I just remember being in the back of their car with them in the front, driving along these gorgeous looking streets... It was lovely I had another one lastnight funnily enough as I watched "Their First Mistake" lastnight before bed. My Dad has their HUGE 20 odd disc boxset you see but it's always somehow in my posession rather than this hehe! They were on stage with Alexander Armstrong & Ben Miller [another comedy duo I love, albeit more update lol] I'm going to see them on tour next year you see & that's what I was dreaming about obviously, only Stan & Ollie were accompanying them...somehow....lol

That's an amazing blend of the old and the new, Sal. I assume you saw the Slapstick programme the other night, that brought together all the various interpretations of slapstick. I was surprised they didn't include a section on cartoons, like Tom and Jerry, which have huge amounts of inconsequential violence, a theme that ran through this programme. I agree about Mitchell and Webb, but spare me Reeves and Mortimer, IMHO the most unfunny "comedy" act ever. But then I do have some odd tastes in entertainment. I replayed a Rowan and Martin Laugh-in Special over the holiday, and I still howled with laughter. Don't think I've had any dreams about it though. This is interesting stuff.

Hehe, I did see the Slapstick, I adored it! My kind of humour Not enough time spent on Stan & Ollie obviously but still good... LOL! I'm sorry to say that I love Vic & Bob [or Reeves & Mortimer]. Another comedy act I have watched since being ickle'...when Big Night Out first started in the early 90's. But that's me, I love most comedy to be honest...well, within reason & mostly the older stuff lol & except for Ricky Gervais...I cannot stand that guy [sorry to any fans on here but there's just something about him I can't abide & it's not like me to dislike people lol] Oh & I had another Stan & Ollie dream lastnight believe it or not...this thread must have set them off! I was walking around the shopping centre in town with a friend & there is always a cart stall that sells pictures & in my dream the cart had loads of Laurel & Hardy pictures on it, one being of them getting married!! Stan was doing his "crying face" whilst being in a wedding dress, next to Ollie "the groom" looking rather puzzled & shocked...never seen a picture like it before lol. Then, it turns out that the boys themselves where serving on the stall & when I was mulling over whether to buy one or not & asked Stan why I should, he replied "So then, we can watch you!" & That was it...one of the stranger, more cryptic ones me' thinks. lol. Although I am abit ill at the minute, that could explain it, I always have strange dreams when I'm ill...lol.

Good thread, It's something I never get a chance to talk about, but I can now ;D I have had only 2 or 3 Dreams about the 'Boys' can't remember what they were about now, but I remember meeting them and chatting to them, It was great, one of those Dreams that you did'nt want to end, and when you wake up, you try to get it back again, you know what I mean ? I agree with Sal about Ricky Gervais, I can't stand him, but, sadly, I can't stand Reeves & Mortimer either, Sorry ! just don't make me laugh, neither do Whitehouse and What do you call him ? they are Awful !

I know from my years of being a fan that Vic & Bob are rather like the marmite of comedy, you eiether love them or hate them...I love them, but I know of a good few who can't stand them...which is a shame because they are lovely fella's who just want to mess around, even if it is to the extreme...hehe. They crack me up, they always have, I can't help it...haha! ;D Anyways, speaking of dreams, I had one about Stan last night, he looked he did in his early solo days & we were in this spooky cathredral type place & I was telling him that he had too much make-up on...& for some reason he was going on about finding me some friends... How did we get from make-up to that? lol But it's fine Stan, I have friends...& they're enough believe me...lol

It's a while since I dreamt of Stan & Ollie, but I'm glad to see it's not just me that does. Maybe we should try and figure out what these dreams actually mean. It can't just be down to the fact we are all big fans. (can it?)
I very often have dreams about the next Laurel & Hardy meeting or L&HDay event. Most of the time the meetings never go well or as planned. Maybe that's just me hoping for the best from them.
