An Ulverston boy from Stanley Street, will lead the England football squad on to the pitch. Spike (yes, honestly) Alderton won a competition in The Sun to become the iconic mascot, and his mother Nicole, will look after the lad on his memorable trip and historic moments. A video of the whole experience will be shown at the Church of England School in Ulverston, where Spike is a Year 2 primary pupil. No doubt Stan would be over the moon.

I reckon Stan would have made a great football player - especially with those 'rubber' legs!!!!!!!
