Well we had a great day at the 19th Laurel and Harday in WIgan, All congratulations must go to Eric Woods who orgnanised the day superbly, finding another venue after weeks of searching, and , a first for the Harday we were sponsored by Uncle Joes Mintballs a fine old Wigan company
seen here with our KEN trophy
our day started slowly with a large selection of memorabelia sellers turning up as usual shortly after the day started we had a visit from the Wigan evening post, who photographed the assembled populace
shortly after this we had a surprise visit from a group of "schoolgirls walking from Wigan to St Helens in aid of charity and they asked if they could do a bucket collection around the rooms we were of course only to happy to oblige
After a couple of shorts, "Come Clean and Dirty Work" Eric had emplyed a magcian "Mr Ree" to come and entertain and baffle us, you have to admit it isnt dificult to bafffle Laurel and Hardy fans but he was superb and mystified the audience, including me
here are some pictures of him in action with various members of the audience , those of a nervous disposition turn away now
please show your card to the audience he said
my good lady wifw Anne helped out also
along with Josh , John and two shifty looking guys from the audience
i am afraid you cant seee the effect but this trick shrank Ian Parkers head, (suited him)
and a final trick involving Wille McIntyre (sorry we cant see your face Willie)
Tony Bagley and some very generous memorabelia stallholders, raised £93 for the charity , which i will be handing over to Chris Coffey later today this is a picture of Ian picking the winning nubers , all very high tech , and it didnt take long for him to work out how to use it (an hour or so)
in honour of our days sponsor "Uncle oe`s Mintballs " Iam led a sing song of the famouse ditty "Uncle Joes Mintballs " keep you all aglow of course
unfortunately as Ian would have needed three hands to play the guitar and hold the mike Gary Winstanley of "Dirty Work of Wigan" volunteered to be the microphone stand
and a fine job he did as well the winning side of the room recieved a large bag of Uncle Joes to share amongst themselves,
We then came to the finale of the day as usual it was the World Kneesie Earsie Nosie Championships , the usual larg entry of hopefulls wanting the five minutes of fame and glory went onto the stage
and our usual panel of unbiased judges, gave their sage council and disqualified people for such serious reasons as "being too blonde" , "not taking it seriously enough" , "showing off" , " taking it too seriously"
in the end it came down to two
and although it went on for many minutes, we have to say that the adult here lost concentration and as they say "blew it"
leaving young John as the new 2011 World champion
a good time was had by all and we will be doing it all over again next year , see you then
I would like to thank all those who came and supported us on the day, and to those who missed it , hope you can make it next year
