Stan is given the task of looking after an old flame of his boss, and keeping her away from the boss` wife as she is a very suspicious woman.Laurel & Hardy`s fifth appearance together. Although, this is mainly a Mae Busch & James Finlayson film. Stan is Fin`s employee, Ollie is a friend of Fin`s. It`s very obvious both Stan & Ollie are just playing `a role` in this film together and don`t exactly appear together as such, apart from a very brief scene. So as comedy`s go, this is just the usual `silent era` type of film, but with a storyline reminiscent and re-used in later Laurel & Hardy films. Ollie`s character is nothing like the `Ollie` we know and recognise, he`s simply just playing a small role in the second half of the film. Stan`s character however, is emerging, with hints of development. The cry is present, as is his springy bowler hat. There are some funny moments, but nothing spectacular. The funniest gag is in the form of a photograph of Fin and Mae Busch together on a beach. Very nice swimwear Fin! There`s an interesting and very violent scene with Fin as he gets so upset by what`s going on around him and has a game of `Russian Roulette`. The first shot he fires isn`t the bullet, but the second one is. Luckily for Fin, the gun isn`t pointed at his head on the second shot! It`s basically a farce of a film with hints of `Come Clean` in it and other `wife` based films. Interesting to see their early work though 5/10
