Laurel & Hardy are christmas tree salesmen in sunny California. They attempt to sell their trees door to door, but without much luck, especially when they arrive at James Finlayson`s house...A good quality silent film. The plot is simple enough. The establishing scenes are nice, and although a silent film, it has some good captioning as Ollie tries to sell the first tree to a lady... OLLIE: Wouldn`t you like to buy a christmas tree? The woman shakes her head OLLIE: Wouldn`t your husband like to buy one?
WOMAN: I have no husband
STAN: If you had a husband, would he buy one? They then continue to the next house, to a very unpleasant tenant who hits Ollie over the head with a hammer several times. Very Painful to watch. The next house is that of James Finlayson, who also doesn`t wish to buy a tree, and leads the film to it`s `Tit for Tat` routine, in which they destroy each others property. It is put together quite well and is a good film to watch, probably one of the better silents. 7/10

One of the most famous silents. Ollie's hair is odd in this one. The slow way the destruction builds is a masterclass of timing.
What more can one say, it's a classic. Why doesn't the cop do something sooner?. If you had a husband would he buy one?. Rating 8/10
