ATTENTION FOLKS.This isn't Laurel & Hardy related but very important. If any of you have a 'paypal' account. be aware. There are thieves about. Someone has managed to steal £1200 from my bank account. They've somehow found out my password and hacked into my account in order to steal funds. I've rang paypal and told them it wasn't an authorised payment. The funds should go back in within a few days. After that, I won't trust it or use it again. BE AWARE!

Sorry to hear about your experience, let's hope it gets sorted. I've had loads of trouble with Paypal, and told them to close my account, which they did (supposedly) last August. But just after Xmas I got a Paypal warning, saying someone had tried to hack my account. A Grand Shiek in the USA has had three bad experiences with them, and won't touch 'em. You never get any statements or records of transactions, and the whole thing is very unsatisfactory. Good warning, and thanks! For a lot of people, that kind of theft would be disastrous.

UPDATE:
I've managed to get a refund now from PayPal. It took a few days but I got it back, which is good.
I've now closed my account with Paypal and would never go back to such an unsecure service. And definately wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
I almost set up an account for our own tent online payments, but due to their security measures, this never happened. Fortunately it's a good job I suppose.
We'll have to stick to good old fashioned bank cheques!

The only problem with that is, cheques are being phased out. It would be worth having a chat with your bank about getting a card reader, so payments can be made by card in person or over the phone. The advantage is, the transfer is instant, with no "clearing" time. All shops have them these days, and many sole traders, like window cleaners, gardeners and -ahem - chimney sweeps! If there is a recognised business account, it shouldn't be a problem, and if you know anyone who owns or works in a shop, sorting it out should be easy.

I had trouble with Pay Pal years ago when buying on Ebay. I still buy on Ebay but insist on paying by cheque. I am a mine of useless information.

Very true your honour and you need to be wary about both. A card reader is a good idea.........although I can't use mine. lol
