From The Nutty Nut News Network:
Gino Dercola has been in touch with the following sad news:
I just received the very sad news (below) about the passing of one of the truly great Sons of the Desert, Bob Stowell. I never had the pleasure of meeting Bob in person, but we had become "phone friends" in recent years. Bob would OFTEN come up with new ideas about how to share some new piece of information regarding L&H, and would call me very excited to get my thoughts; when I had information for him and would call him, you could hear the excitement in his voice. It was always a pleasure hearing from him, and his enthusiasm for all-things Laurel and Hardy was fun to experience. I never knew anyone who loved taking about Laurel and Hardy details more than Bob. In recent years, Bob worked tirelessly to locate any information about The Rogue Song and Hats Off, and to share his findings with fellow Sons. It's a sad day--I will surely miss Bob and our talks.
And thanks to fellow Son, Ken Runyan, for all he did to assist Bob this past
year as Bob's health was declining.
All at The Nutty Nut News Network would like to express our sincerest condolences to Mr Stowell's family and many friends.

Hi all,
On Saturday evening, April 17th, Bob Stowell passed away. He had his children by his side, at his passing. Bob was the Grand Sheik of the Rogue Song Tent and was instrumental in the founding of the Laurel and Hardy Club. Bob had visited Stan a number of times and corresponded with Stan often. Bob had also attended Stan's funeral. He was thrilled to have attended a Way Out West last year, meeting up with his old friends was something he talked about constantly. It truly was a highlight, which all family members were reminded of often.
Enclosed are two photos for publication if anyone so desires.
Thank you.
