Seeing as our tent is in a state of 'rest', which leads to the question of the future of the Laurel & HarDay, I can happily announce that the 19th Annual event WILL take place this year.
The Come Clean tent of Widnes have agreed to take over the running of this year's one-day convention.
Eric Woods will be arranging the day's events and I'm sure he will make a nice job of it too.
;D
After a recent Dirty Work staff meeting, I suggested maybe other tents could be interested in running the one-day convention themselves. In a similar style to the conventions by handing over the 'baton' to other interested tents, who could present the day and give it their own personal tent touch.
This could give the Laurel & HarDay a fresh approach and could help it run for many more years.
What do you think?

I think it's a grate idea to pass it round to other tents - let's hope they take up the offer/challenge!!!!!!!

Saturday 3rd September - 1pm until 6pm All, After several recent trips to the lovely town of Wigan, I've managed to secure a good venue for this years Laurel and HarDay, The Bryn Labour Club, full address and phone number are below. Ian Parker will be our emcee for the day which will get underway at 1pm, the usual irreverent bevy of fun and frivolity can be guaranteed. Among other things, we'll have films and a quiz, a sing-song with Bob Hickson, and a fund raiser for the Sons UK Charity. The venue has bar food available for connoisseurs of quality eating [pies, butties and gourmet crisps] and lot's of good beer. Put in in your diary, and be there!! Bryn Labour Club, 311 - 317 Wigan Road, WN4 9SX, on the A49. The venue is near junction 25 on the M6 motorway. The club is 500 yards from Bryn Railway station which connects to Wigan, St. Helens, Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria. See you there from 1pm. BS/ £3 on the door, on the day. Fraternally yours, Eric

Thanks for your last post Mr Doubletake. Important information regarding the venue just received by e-mail. Please note that the venue does not have any facilities for disabled Sons. All, We're just about a week away from the 19th Laurel and HarDay in Wigan on Sat 3rd September, as you know, the venue is Bryn Labour Club. The problem with that is that Chris Coffey cannot attend, as a wheelchair user he's unable to get to the 1st floor Function Room at the club which has no disabled facilities at all. I am disappointed, but given that many Wigan venues have closed in the current financial climate there are no more suitable venues available which can offer such facilities. I've had a chat with Chris, he's disappointed too but fully under stands the rationale, he has wished us well for the day. Chris went on to ask if he could see any film footage which might be taken on the day. So, can I ask you to dust off your camcorder or flashy new phone and take some footage during the proceedings and get it to Chris via the jolly old internet, I'd be interested to see the footage also. There's the challenge, can a few folk rise to the challenge? Remember to keep a steady hand on your recording device and we might have some good memories of the day. Fraternally yours, Eric Grand Sheik The Come Clean Tent Oasis #71

Am I the only one a little confused regards the venue? This was in the Wigan Evening Post the other week.... I've had the e-mail about Bryn Labour club but it states somewhere else in the article. Should be a nice mess this year!

I know there's still an interest, but we need as much interest as possible. Mr. Doubletake, please spread the word and ask around if there's any others interested in coming along. All being well, we could be able to get running again in the next couple of months or so. All we need is plenty of support and enthusiasm!

As far as I know it's Bryn, That's the last Eric's mailed to me (And I forwarded to others in the tent) - Charles at the paper contacted me a few weeks back so I gave him Eric's E-mail.
I'm Not sure if Lola and I are going.
